History: Common names - Autumn Sage, Cherry Sage, Gregg's Sage, Texas Sage

Characteristics: Evergreen. Fragrant. Salvias are in the mint family, all of which have a characteristic square stem. Perennial. Small shrub. Salt tolerant.  Deer resistant.

Flower:  Red.  Blooms and spring and fall

Planting / Care: Grows well in sand, loam, clay and caliche.  Medium water requirement.  Grow in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Best in sandy or rocky soils with sharp drainage. Appreciates some part afternoon shade in hot summer climates.
