Rose, Peggy Martin Scientific Name: Rosa 'Peggy Martin'
History/general species info: "She" is the classic old Southern rose for an avid Louisiana gardener whose home and property stood under 20 feet of salt water for two weeks after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. After Katrina, six growers worked together to make the rose—which they named "Peggy Martin". A beautiful specimen can be seen at the Aransas/San Patricio Master Gardener's Demonstration Garden - 892 Airport Road. It also survived the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
Characteristics: Climbing. Thornless. Clusters of double pink flowers with glossy green foliage.
Planting / Care: Water consistently in summer. Well-drained soil and fertilize twice a year to promote growth as well as blooming.
